ILM Endorsed 'The First Time Manager' Course Description

This ILM Endorsed First Time Manager programme is designed so that participants will be able to:
• Identify leadership styles
• Recognise the impact of personal presentation and style
• Plan their time more effectively
• Delegate work effectively and overcome the barriers to delegation
• Enhance working relationships
• Recognise different behavioural styles
• Manage difficult and challenging behaviour
• Communicate more effectively with colleagues and customers
• Manage budgets and plan finances
• Recognise the importance of ‘Duty of Care’
• Carry out staff appraisals and disciplinary procedures
• Understand diversity
• Carry out successful recruitment
 

Structure

The ILM Endorsed First Time Manager programme consists of 8 workshops incorporating:
• Outdoor learning outcome exercises,
• Theories and analysis,
• Team exercises,
• Discussion groups,
• Case studies,
• Role Play
• Video Recording

The First Time Manager course is suitable for individuals or for an organisation and is aimed at those who are stepping in to a management role, or have been working within a management structure for a short period of time.
